- Visage, a ceramic plate by Pablo Picasso, conceived in 1956 and issued in a limited edition by the Madoura workshop, executed in white earthenware with a stylised face in relief. The work belongs to Picasso’s sustained engagement with ceramics from 1947 onwards, a medium through which he merged painting and sculpture into functional and accessible objects. Influenced by Spanish folk pottery and Cubist explorations of space and form, Picasso developed a distinctive ceramic language marked by formal synthesis and expressive strength.
