Biografia

Pamen Pereira (Ferrol (A Coruña), 1963) presents works that move between drawing, painting, sculpture and installation; sometimes also photography, video and any other medium or material useful to concrete the creative act. Her process of creation, which is generally merged with life experience, is closely linked to nature, from which she draws most of her images. Since 1986 her work has been presented in Spanish and international galleries such as Trinta (Santiago de Compostela), Palazzo Pinucci and Galleria Via Larga (Florence), Senate Palace (Madrid) and Recent Gallery (Sapporo, Japan). She has exhibited her works in museums in different places around the world, such as the Gallego Center for Contemporary Art (CGAC), the Lugo Museum, the Cairo Opera Palace and the Arts Center of the Alexandrine Bibliotheca in Alexandria, Egypt, the Senate Palace in Madrid, the National Museum of Fine Arts in Buenos Aires... She has participated in national and international biennals and fairs such as ARCO Madrid, Art Chicago, Colonia, Nagoya or Art Basel, in Switzerland, among others. Her work is part of numerous public and private collections and has been widely catalogued since 1989. In 1996 she received the artistic creation scholarship abroad from the Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC) of Unión Fenosa, with which she lived in Japan in 1996-1997. There she prepared the exhibition Tenwa Mu de aru (Heaven is void) at the Recent Gallery of Sapporo. From 2001, the artist has traveled with her work around the world, from Iran, Antarctica, Egypt, Western Sahara, China or Dubai among others. In 2014 she carries out the permanent installation of Jardín Flotante in the corporate headquarters of DKV Seguros in Zaragoza. Without abandoning the solitude of the workshop as a place of reflection and study, from which works with a more intimate character arise, in recent years her work focuses on the facilities and artistic interventions in public and private places, as a challenge with regard to the social character of art, the role of the artist in society and the important function of the poetic image.
