Caracciolo's drawing corpus is very small. This drawing is very similar in style and theme to another example, a Virgin and Child Carrying the Symbols of the Passion from one of the albums in which Gaspar de Haro, Viceroy of Naples and the Seventh Marquis of Carpio organized his drawings. It is believed that the attributions and handwritten notes that appear in the margin of several of his drawings were made by Father Sebastiano Resta. This drawing was first published by Marina Causa Picone, who indicates that José Milicua participated in its documentation and points out the connections with the drawing mentioned above.
