  Our work is an example of the fascination that this place aroused in artists, as a folkloric place full of inspirations. As can be seen in the photograph taken in 1929, Tapiró represents this place with extreme realism, always giving a personal interpretation to the scene. In fact, the characters who live there dress according to the style so represented by the artist. Although it is possible that there were indeed people from different cultures in a market as well-known as Plaza Montanara, however, it is more likely that it was a pictorial exercise that Tapiró began to practice after his first trip to Morocco in October 1871.
