Biografia

MADOLA (María Àngels Domingo Laplana) was born in Barcelona in 1944. She studied ceramics at the Massana School of Barcelona, is a graduate in sculpture and holds a PHD from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Barcelona. She has held individual and collective exhibitions since 1966 in different places in Spain (Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, Canary Islands, Seville, Pamplona, Gijón, etc.) and abroad (France, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, United Kingdom, Italy, Portugal, Hungary, Slovakia, the United States, Japan, Korea, Mexico, China, etc.). She has works in various collections, as well as national and international museums. She has won numerous awards. Madola is a member of the International Academy of Ceramics with headquarters in Geneva, the UNESCO World-Craft Council in Paris and the Royal Academy of Sciences and Arts in Barcelona. She is invited by different public and private institutions to give seminars and conferences on large-format ceramics, especially for public spaces. Since 1988 she has been working on large-format works for urban spaces. In Barcelona, “Castilla” (Plaza de la Font Castellana) 1992; in Manchester (UK) Mediterranean (Catalan Square) 1995; in the Morell, Tarragona, “The hand as a tool” 1999; on the National Highway 340 in Sta. María de Cervelló “Art and Nature” 2004; in Icheon Park Corea “Memory Catalonia-Corea” 2006; on the link road to Premià de Dalt “Rotonda Blava” 2007; in the Museum of Design center of HUB Barcelona “Orgànic” 2013; installation in the Cemetery of Arenys de Mar “Give form to the word” 2013); and other works in public and private spaces in the field of Catalonia and abroad. Alongside her work in ceramics, she works on glass and paper and creates graphic work since 1980.
