Biografia
Luís Feito (Madrid, 1929-2021) was one of the founding members of the El Paso artists' association in 1957. He had a cohesive and defined artistic career, which began with a brief figurative period and which delves into abstraction in the 1950s. At first, he only used black, ocher and white colors, but he quickly began to paint with more vivid colors, to enhance the light.
Professor at the San Fernando School of Fine Arts, he left teaching in 1956 to go to Paris with the scholarship awarded to him gave the opportunity to study avant-garde movements. Among the awards received, the David Bright Award at the XXX Venice Biennale stands out in 1960 and in 1993 the Commander of Arts and Letters of France.
His works, which do not usually have a title, are present in the most prestigious museums and collections in the world, including the Gallery of Modern Art (Rome), Guggenheim Foundation (New York), National Museum of Modern Art (Paris), Museum of Modern Art (New York), National Center for Contemporary Art (Paris), Museum of Modern Art de la Villa (Paris), Museum of Modern Art (Tokyo), National Museum (Ottawa), Tamayo Museum (Mexico City), Juan March Foundation (Madrid) and the Reina Sofía Art Center (Madrid).
