Biografia

Alfredo Alcain (Madrid, 1936) is a renowned Spanish engraver. His works often consist of several images or blocks of colour, which are assembled to form a single image. The result is a work of art that is not only easy to see and understand, but is also distinctive in a unique style of work. Alfredo Alcain studied painting at the San Fernando School of Fine Arts, Madrid, between 1953 and 1958. Then he finished his studies in engraving and lithography at the National School of Graphic Arts, in Madrid (1957-63) and then the studies on Cinematographic Decoration at the National School of Cinematography (1961-64) in the same city. In addition to having held numerous exhibitions, Alfredo Alcain has works in more than 30 museums and collections, including: Circulo de Bellas Artes, Madrid, Museum of Contemporary Art, Seville, Museum of Engraving, Buenos Aires, Salvador Allende International Museum, Santiago de Chile, Municipal Museum of Madrid, National Library, Madrid; Museum of Fine Arts, Bilbao and Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía to Madrid.
