16th century metal reflex plate, probably from Valencia (Manises), with a slightly raised center and a slightly rounded everted edge. The pale cream interior is decorated with scrolled fruit circles around a large ox and beast in the center.
This plate belongs to a small group known as the "dentil boarder" or "de l'ungle" group (Ray, Anthony: Spanish Pottery 1248-1898, London, 2000).
Another example of this plate is in the Victoria & Albert Museum.
