The work we present here, dated 1968, is quite atypical in the artist's career, who normally uses more neutral colors. The support is unusual and rare in the Tàpies catalogue, which here uses papier-mache adhered to a board. You can see the influence of both American neo-expressionism visible in the drip of "Action painting", whose greatest exponent was Jackson Pollock - and French Brut art, with the typical scratching of Jean Dubuffet. At the end of the 60s, Tàpies abandoned the Dau al Set movement created during his youth, to advance towards Informalism, through which he would be internationally recognized.
